Pros: Quality, fast-paced racing style with several control schemes. AI is highly aggressive and actually plays dirty. Cons: Players essentially start off penalized if they don’t make purchases right away. The number of race tracks is ridiculously limited. (3)
Pros: Progression system is fun in theory. Solid framerate. Cons: Goofy physics just don’t satisfy. Lackluster presentation. Unlocking content is a grind. (2.5)
Pros: Charming visual and audio style. Controls are fluid and easy to handle. Easy to learn, but fairly difficult to master. Cons: Death mechanic is a bit harsh considering the game’s target audience. Levels are rather long, making the death mechanic even harsher. (4)
Smash Cops is well presented, with a UI that looks crisp and clear on the big iPad screen. The graphics are pretty too although they don’t really stretch the latest hardware. Chunky, family friendly vehicles in a brightly coloured Miami styled mini-city are the order of the day. (5)
Pros: Plays a good game of baseball. Premium content isn’t essential to have a good time. Large amount of content. Cons: Could do without the anime style. Overworld elements can be overwhelming. (4)
Pros: Fun battles and some fun witty writing. Cons: Game could do better at understanding where you’re tapping, load times are LONG initially. (4.5)
Pros: Core concept is great fun. Lots of replay potential with all the collectibles to pick up. Amazing graphics. There's a lot of promise here … Cons: … but the promise isn't really followed through on. Controls don't always register your touch/commands. Buggy gameplay can be super frustrating. No option to switch lanes on your own, which makes gameplay feel pretty linear. (3)
Pros: Truly unique co-op use of multi touch. Dripping with style. Cons: Requires 2 players. With no scoring or winning, is it really a game? (4)
Pros: Great visuals. Raising a race horse is very satisfying. Watching races can be surprisingly intense. Cons: Hard to earn new horses when playing solo. Feeding mechanic is problematic. Ads can be intrusive. (3.5)
Pros: More to manage than the original design. Trading comes with amusing mini-games. Cons: Core play is still rather formulaic. Most of the quests are relatively dull and standardized. (3.5)
The Jurassic Park games have always been disappointing, but with less action and virtually no puzzles, episode three is the worst one yet (4.0)
Pros: Excellent platforming. Gorgeous graphics and music. Fantastic controls. Character customization is great. Cons: None. (5)
Pros: Terrific 3D visuals. Large world to explore. Varied and fun mini-games. Lots of customization options. Cons: Some tasks require too much energy. (5)
A clever and challenging spin on the tower defence genre, overlaid with an elaborate science fiction schtick which doesn’t outstay its welcome (9.0)
Pros: Unique take on tower defense, embraces its style 100%. Cons: Insanely difficult at the default setting. (4.5)
Pros: Functionally sound. Easy to control. Cons: Slogging pace. Doesn’t add new concepts to genre. Goes wild with ads. (2.5)
Pros: Addictive combination of word and puzzle games. Slick presentation and incredible soundtrack. Magnifying glass makes playing on smaller screens much easier. Cons: Gets stressful. (4.5)
Pros: Fun story. Original, fun strategy gameplay. Charming graphics. Difficulty is chanllenging, but never overwhelming. Substantial single-player campaign. Cons: Seems like a perfect fit for an online multiplayer mode, but none is present. (4.5)
Pros: Multiple variations on the standard hidden object scene. Hints are fairly easy to come by. Cons: Story is a bit too unbelievable. Character models are static and downright creepy. Puzzles and mini-games lack greatly in variety or challenge. (2)
