It does not require a copy of Grand Theft Auto IV to play, nor is an Xbox Live or PSN account necessary (except for multiplayer). The Lost and Damned otherwise features similar gameplay to Grand Theft Auto IV. Additions to the game include new weapons, such as a grenade launcher, Automatic Pistol, half of a pool cue and pipe bombs, as well as sawn-off and automatic shotguns and new vehicles, such as Johnny's custom-made motorcycle. The Ballad of Gay Tony follows the exploits of a new protagonist, Luis Fernando Lopez, a member of the Dominican drug dealers and the personal bodyguard of Anthony "Gay Tony" Prince.

On the 27th of May, the first official DLC pack was released for Splinter Cell: Conviction. The Insurgency Pack is available for 800 Microsoft points and will get you 4 new levels in Deniable Ops mode.
Multiplayer mode in Splinter Cell: Conviction involves both split screen and system link (Xbox 360), and online cooperative mode, plus a Deniable Ops mode. Deniable Ops mode involves 4 multiplayer modes that pit the players against AI in game modes such as Hunter, Infiltration, Last Stand, and Face-Off. Face-Off is the game's only actual competitive multiplayer mode, as it features the ability to kill the opposing spy. Hunter, Infiltration, and Last Stand are also singleplayer and do not always have to be played with a human partner. The game does not contain the critically-acclaimed "Spies Vs Mercenaries" mode featured in the previous games of the series.
