Splitkick 7.0 The Lord of the Rings: War in the North (PC)
The Lord of the Rings: War in the North (360)

The story told here isn’t anything great. A simple, manufactured tale that throws plenty of fan service at the player and based on some minor quote from Gandalf or someone. Whenever you hit a safe location, the typical outcome is “well, the Fellowship is going this way, but we need you… IN THE NORTH!” Contrived, but it works and isn’t important. Here, the hacks and slashes are what matter. Did you like those Snowblind games I mentioned before? Yeah, you’ll be cool here, just give it a little time before it really clicks.

GamePro 7.0 The Lord of the Rings: War in the North (360)

The Lord of the Rings returns as a co-op brawler with RPG elements. Is Snowblind's take on the franchise a winner, or does it get lost in the pack?

Splitkick 8.0 F.E.A.R. 3 (360)

Let me start with saying this; F.3.A.R. is not scary. It is not even remotely unsettling, but then again I did not come into the game thinking it would be. Though it has been shoved uncomfortably into the thriller/horror genre, solely on the merits of the original F.E.A.R., the first play through of the game would be better classified as a military shooter. This being said, the title has accomplished quite a bit as a shooter, especially after having to live down the failure of F.E.A.R. 2: Project Origin.

Splitkick 10.0 Bastion (360)

Storytelling is a finely honed craft. Great stories often depend on great storytellers; someone who can do more than recount a sequence of events. A great storyteller will lure in his audience, captivate them, and have them hanging on his every word. It is rare to see this art translated to the medium of videogames, and in Bastion we find not just a great story, but a great storyteller.
