GameSnob FAQ
Does the world really need another video game information aggregator?
Yes. GameSnob is different from anything else out there. How so, you ask?
By combining review scores with current price drop data, we can help you find your next game to buy.
Deals are sorted by "Deal Factor". Huh? What is this and why are you doing this?
It's simple: we want you to see the best deals first. The Deal Factor is based on the
percentage of the price drop ("savings"), the game's average review score and the game's age.
In a nutshell, the Deal Factor reflects the "value" of a deal: deals with the largest savings
on the best-reviewed and newest games have the highest Deal Factors.
What is the difference between "Game Deals" and "Price Drops"?
We add a game to the deals section when we can establish that its current price is lower than its regular price.
However, you might be equally interested in recently lowered prices, regardless of the distinction between regular and sale prices.
For example, the regular price of a previously expensive game might have just been lowered or perhaps there is no known regular price (which is typically the case for
iPhone and iPad games). Our "
price drops" page allows you to track all lowered prices in chronological order.
Which gaming sites do you aggregate?
A small set of sites that generate the most trustworthy gaming content on the web:
GameSpot,
IGN,
1UP,
GamePro,
Game Informer,
GameSpy,
GiantBomb,
Splitkick,
Pocket Gamer,
AppSpy,
Slide To Play and
Gamezebo.
GameSnob is not affiliated with these sites. We simply like them.
Why aren't you aggregating reviews from more sites?
We are snobs. We believe that some sites are better than others. By only
focusing on the best and cutting out low-quality clutter, we offer a unique
service that is comprehensive and informative without being overwhelming.
Will you include more sites in the future?
Possibly, yes. As sites appear, disappear or evolve, we will adjust accordingly.
However, complete coverage of every gaming site on the web is not our goal.
I came across some information that doesn't look right to me. Now what?
As snobs, we strive for the highest level of quality and accuracy. If you find an
error, please let us know at errors [at][domain of this site] and we'll fix it.
